Near the village of Dargavs in North Ossetia there is an ancient burial ground called the City of the Dead. No one has lived here for a long time, only old buildings have survived, and there are many mystical legends about this place. It is believed that if any tourist tries to enter the local crypt, the spirits will take that person’s life. Dargavs is one of the largest necropolises in the world, there are 95 crypts with artifacts from different eras. Due to overpopulation and frequent wars at the end of the 16th century, there were no places left for burial of local residents, so the cemeteries were moved to the mountains – a place where agriculture was not developed. Local tribes believed that a person should be buried with all his property, so people were dressed in beautiful clothes, and household items lay next to them.
