This was reported by Tatar-inform news agency with reference to the Office of the Republican Rospotrebnadzor. So far, 24 cases of the disease have been registered in Tatarstan.

This year, reports of the first outbreaks of influenza A (H3N2) appeared in early November. In the Tyumen region, Hong Kong flu was detected in two children and one adult. All of them were not vaccinated. Further, patients with this strain were found in the Sakhalin, Oryol, Amur regions, Transbaikalia and the Perm Territory.

Many experts, commenting on the situation with influenza A (H3N2), agree that the disease is no more dangerous than other type A influenzas, but reliable estimates can only be made based on the results of the season. In particular, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the N. F. Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Anatoly Altstein expressed the opinion that we are unlikely to see a “big epidemic”, since there is nothing fundamentally new in strain A (H3N2), and against the virus there is a vaccine.

The modern vaccine mentioned by Anatoly Altstein contains components of both influenza A and influenza B. In most cases, it helps to avoid severe disease. But still, virologists note that we are dealing with a type of influenza group A. Unlike the common influenza B, it is more severe. If his symptoms do not subside within 3-4 days, then the patient is prescribed antibiotics, since in such a situation it is highly likely that a bacterial infection has also been added to the viral infection.

The following symptoms are typical for Hong Kong flu:

  • malaise and weakness;
  • aches;
  • headache;
  • muscle pain;
  • heat;
  • sore throat and dry cough.
