Untimely replacement of engine oil and technical fluids, as well as neglect to replace spark plugs, brake discs and timing belts are the main mistakes Russian drivers make when operating cars. This was announced by the technical director of the international network of car service centers Fit Service, Alexey Ruzanov, as reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to Ruzanov, some drivers forget to check the engine oil level and neglect to change the oil, which is especially important in operating conditions in Russia, where cars are exposed to extreme conditions. It is recommended to change the engine oil along with filters every 5-7 thousand kilometers. It is also important to change your power steering fluid, antifreeze, brake fluid and transmission oil regularly.

The expert advises regularly checking your spark plugs at every service to keep your engine running properly and avoid serious problems. The service life of conventional nickel spark plugs is 20 thousand kilometers, and that of iridium spark plugs is 100 thousand kilometers. In addition, you should regularly check your brake discs every 15 thousand kilometers to avoid serious problems.

It is also important to monitor the condition of the timing belt, avoiding its rupture, which can lead to serious engine damage. Ruzanov urges drivers not to neglect regular diagnostics, as timely minor repairs can avoid serious breakdowns.
