Boat with 2.3 tons of cocaine caught off the coast of Spain

The Spanish National Police seized approximately 2.3 tons of cocaine, which were found on board a fishing boat.

This operation was carried out in cooperation with the American authorities and the ship was discovered off the coast of Vigo in the Autonomous Community Galicia. Four crew members of the boat were detained by law enforcement officers, and a fifth person was also arrested, allegedly responsible for taking the drugs.

Police launched an investigation after receiving information about several individuals believed to be members of the “Balkan cartel“and planned to use Spain as a point of import of narcotic substances with the aim of their subsequent distribution throughout Europe.
