The European Union considers the occupation of the Gaza Strip by Israel and the return of the enclave to the control of the Jewish state unacceptable.

This was stated on Tuesday, November 21, by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Josep Borrellwho gave an interview to Arab journalists from the authoritative publication “Asharq al Awsa”.

“We have made it clear that this is unacceptable,” Borrell stressed.

The senior EU official also noted that he opposes the forced transfer of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries. Also, the European Union will not support Israel’s reduction of the territory of the Palestinian enclave.

“The solution to the problem of the Gaza Strip must be considered within the framework of the solution to the Palestinian problem as a whole,” the head of European diplomacy emphasized.

Previously, Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that after the defeat of the Palestinian Hamas movement, the Palestinian enclave will remain under the control of the army of the Jewish state.
