The International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism was established to draw the attention of governments and the general public to the importance of long-term physical, psychological, social and financial rehabilitation of victims of terrorism. One of the main responsibilities of states is to support victims of terrorism, protect their rights and ensure that the voices of victims of terrorist acts are heard. Ignoring the rights of victims of terrorism is one of the factors that reduces the effectiveness of the fight against terrorism on a global scale.
