According to information on the website of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the tasks of the department include the formation and implementation of a unified technical policy in the field of digital transformation and informatization, the preparation of draft regulatory legal acts, ensuring a phased transition to domestic software, equipment and a unified development environment, as well as organizing the technological independence of information systems and infrastructure from foreign equipment and software and providing them to institutions and bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
