Food has overtaken gadgets and clothing in terms of online purchase volume. Infographics

The largest share of all online purchases in the first 6 months of 2024 was taken by the delivery of prepared food, dishes from restaurants and groceries from stores – 15.8%, or 588 billion rubles, according to data provided to RBC by the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT). Until now, the leadership has always been held by the category of electronics and household appliances, but according to the results of the first half of the year, it was only in fourth place with a share of 14.3%, or 533 billion rubles, giving way to the delivery of food, furniture and household goods (14.7%, or 547 billion rubles), as well as clothing and footwear (14.4%, or 536 billion rubles). The fifth line was taken by beauty and health products (6.8%, or 255 billion rubles).
