Famous traveler Fedor Konyukhov intends to carry out a unique journey – the first ever solo crossing of the Pacific Ocean on solar energy, using catamaran. In addition, he plans to conduct scientific research on microplastics in the ocean, which he told reporters about.

The official website of Fedor Konyukhov describes in detail the project, within the framework of which he intends to make a historic transition through Pacific Ocean on a catamaran using only solar energy. This route will include two stages: the first – crossing Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean Islands, and the second is a journey from Chile to Australia across the Pacific Ocean.

During this transition, Fedor Konyukhov plans to lead video diary and conduct environmental monitoring of the ocean. Every day it will note the presence or absence of plastic waste in seawater. Construction of the catamaran is scheduled to be completed this year.

Fedor Konyukhov emphasized that he is always characterized by a combination of travel and scientific research, although this side of his work does not always receive sufficient attention from the media.
