In Tatarstan, an ex-forestry worker cut down trees worth 8.6 million rubles

A 40-year-old resident of Tatarstan will stand trial for illegal logging on a particularly large scale.

According to information from the regional Investigative Committee, a former employee of the Aktobe district forestry will soon be in the dock.

“According to the investigation, in August-September 2022, the accused, in the absence of permits, under the pretext of preparing a plot for the creation of forest crops, gave illegal instructions to workers to cut down all the trees growing there,” the department reported.

As a result, by order of the accused, a forest of 114 trees with a total volume of 160 cubic meters was cut down. It is clarified that the man used the resulting wood at his own discretion. Damage to the forest fund amounted to 8.6 million rubles.

For illegal actions, the former forester faces imprisonment of up to seven years.
