The department does not name the accused, but, according to the UNIAN agency, we are talking about a member of the “For the Future” faction, Sergei Labazyuk. NABU reports that he tried to transfer a bribe to the Deputy Prime Minister for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Currently this position is held by Alexander Kubrakov.

According to investigators, in August 2023, the people’s deputy turned to the official with a request to provide one of his companies with contracts for the repair of facilities in the amount of one billion hryvnia (almost $28 million), promising a bribe of three to five percent for this. After the company’s account received funds for the contract to restore the destroyed bridge, the deputy gave the official a kickback in the amount of $150,000. The transfer of money took place through a trusted person in the parking lot of one of the capital’s supermarkets; the money was placed in a Chinese box.

The deputy was charged with attempting to bribe an official. He faces imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.

Earlier, another Ukrainian deputy was suspected of bribery, who also tried to transfer money to Kubrakov. He offered to transfer the funds in bitcoins.
