At a festival in the German city of Solingen, a man attacked passersby with a knife, at least three people were killed and several others were seriously injured, writes Bild.
Eyewitnesses report that the attack was carried out by a “criminal who looked like an Arab.” The festival was cancelled, the area was cordoned off, and festival-goers were asked to leave the square. One of the festival's co-organizers, Philipp Muller, reported that doctors were trying to save nine people, reports RIA Novosti with reference to Picture And Solinger Tageblatt.
The attacker managed to escape, reports RT.
Solingen is celebrating the 650th anniversary of its city charter on Friday and over the weekend. The event, dubbed the “Festival of Diversity,” was expected to attract 80,000 people over three days, reports TASS.
