— After all, language is our national heritage, culture, — says Knyazev. — I work in the theater, and the theater is a language. Here, an impact on a person occurs through living language. I read a lot of Pushkin and Dostoevsky from the stage, and this certainly has an impact. We must protect the language, preserve it, and not just express ourselves in three phrases and interjections. There is nothing wrong with foreign words either, but there are a number of words that sound no worse in Russian. When 12-15 years ago we lived in France and lived among the French, they were indignant that French words began to be replaced by English ones, many Americanisms appeared and the culture of the language was disappearing. I did not attach much importance to this, but now I understand what they were talking about.
