Listyev’s colleague voiced a new version of his murder

To the oligarch Boris Berezovsky there was no point in “cleaning up” Vladislav Listyeva. The legendary journalist of the 90s could have been killed for a completely different reason, in no way related to his professional activities. His colleague who worked on television spoke about this Alexander Politkovsky.

The reporter, in a conversation with MK, refuted the opinion that supposedly all the Vzglyadovites squabbled among themselves and their internal squabbles ended in the murder of Listyev.
“There was no showdown. Vlad just imagined himself a little more than he was worth,” noted the publication’s interlocutor.
According to him, when Listyev contacted Berezovsky, he decided to privatize Channel One. And one of Boris Abramovich’s conditions was to remove Politkovsky, who was doing the investigations. Listyev behaved like untouchable person.
But for Berezovsky he was the goose that laid the golden eggs. And for the oligarch to shoot him was tantamount to shooting himself in the head. This blame was placed on him after his death in London, the journalist believes.
In his opinion, Listyev’s death did not change anything in the channel’s advertising policy. It’s purely a matter of his character.
“Vlad allowed himself something that should not have been allowed. What exactly, I don’t know. Maybe he seduced someone’s wife or daughter. Listyev was a famous womanizer, and women hung on Vlad,” Politkovsky concluded.
