…When it was deep night in Moscow, and morning had already come in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Kim Jong-un arrived here.

The distinguished guest, accompanied by the Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, visited two enterprises at once.

First of all, at the Aviation Plant named after Yu.A. Gagarin, and then in the production center of the parent company of the civilian division of UAC Yakovlev.

In the workshops and design bureaus, the leader of the DPRK was told and shown how the famous Su-35 and Su-57 fighters are assembled.

And of course, the Sukhoi Superjet New civil aircraft, which is an “import-substituted” version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner.

According to news agencies and our sources, “Kim Jong-un and those accompanying him (and in the delegation, it seems, there are also specialists familiar with this industry – A.G.) highly appreciated the capacity of the enterprises and modern technological capabilities after the modernization and technical rearmament.”

At that time, the Yakovlev production center was testing the Sukhoi Superjet New aircraft and preparing for airfield testing of the aircraft with Russian PD-8 engines.

And the press service of the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory cites the following statement by Mikhail Degtyarev: “North Korea has been a long-time and reliable partner of Russia since the Second World War, when the armies of the USSR and the DPRK fought together against the Japanese militarists, and a little later they were allies in the Korean War.”

The head of the region also recalled that Kim Jong-un’s father, the previous leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-il, visited Khabarovsk and the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft plant named after Yu.A. Gagarin in August 2002.
