Mistakes made by pet owners that can lead to health problems

Many people make mistakes when welcoming furry friends into the family that can negatively impact the health and well-being of their pets. Vet Yana Christidis highlighted several key points in this area.

According to the expert, one of the main problems is improper nutrition of domestic animals.
“Often, owners are confused when it comes to choosing between a natural diet and ready-made food. As a result, they provide the pet with both options and, moreover, feed it from their table. This is completely unacceptable,” Christidis emphasized.
The specialist explained that optimal nutrition should be balanced in terms of vitamins, minerals and proteins. Therefore, preference should be given to premium food, avoiding serving homemade products. The choice of natural diet and vitamin supplements should be made by a veterinarian based on the individual needs of each pet.
The second serious mistake that many owners make is involuntary failure to vaccinate your pets. Even if the animal does not go outside, the owners can carry pathogens of infectious diseases on their shoes. In addition, some infections can be transmitted through airborne droplets.
To sum it up, Dr. Christidis urged pet owners to visit the veterinarian for any changes in the behavior of their furry friends. These may be symptoms of serious illnesses, and treatment should be started without delay.
