China is among the world leaders in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and is ambitiously claiming first place in this area, says the famous American entrepreneur Elon Musk.

“In terms of countries that are leading the way in AI, China is definitely a standout and probably at the top.” — Musk said during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Musk also emphasized that despite Western concerns about a possible lack of AI regulation in China, he personally met with Chinese leaders to discuss the potential risks of AI. He said they are taking very seriously the possibility that AI could theoretically affect the stability of China’s ruling Communist Party.
Musk believes that artificial intelligence represents one of the most important threats to human civilization at present. However, he is confident that there is a chance for the technology to be developed responsibly.
