Platelets play an important role in the blood clotting process and protect the body from bleeding. When a vessel is damaged, special substances are formed that create blood clots on the walls of the vessel to stop bleeding. However, in certain diseases, excessive activation of blood clots can lead to blockage of blood vessels, which causes various serious problems such as heart attacks, strokes and thrombosis, reports atas.info.
