Earlier, on August 17, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali pointed out the potential of the eastern branch of the North-South corridor, which runs through Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran. He specified that this figure reaches 15 million tons annually. According to Jalali, in 2023, the volume of transportation amounted to 650 thousand tons. It is planned that this year, cargo turnover in this direction will increase to 2 million tons.
