“We honor the memory of those who forged this difficult and at the same time great Victory. And, of course, the very fact of the opening of the CSKA Walk of Fame indicates that athletes of the Soviet Union and army athletes also took part in the Great Patriotic War. They exchanged sportswear for military equipment, sports equipment for weapons and military equipment. Everyone who is interested in the history of the Great Patriotic War, of course, knows about the exploits of army athletes,” Pankov said at the event.
Let us note that the CSKA club itself celebrated its 100th anniversary this year.
