In December, the Supreme Court of the Komi Republic decided to find Boris Kagarlitsky* guilty of the charges brought against him and sentence him to a fine of 609 thousand rubles. The prosecutor’s office appealed this decision. As a result, the appeal court overturned the decision of the previous instance and replaced the fine with a real term.

Boris Kagarlitsky* is known as a left-wing Soviet dissident. Since 1977, he participated in the dissident movement. He is known as a neo-Marxist theorist and developed the “center-periphery” theory in economics.

The political views of Boris Kagarlitsky* are close to neo-Marxism. He has repeatedly criticized Russian foreign policy. He actively spoke out against the conduct of the SVO.
