The new coronavirus variant BA.2.86, also known as pyrola, has proven to be more contagious than its predecessors. This was reported by Rospotrebnadzor.

There is no “pyrol” in Russia yet, but the BA.2.86 variant may well displace all other strains of coronavirus in the foreseeable future, the scientist added.

“It is impossible to give a good forecast for the situation with coronavirus for this fall and the approaching winter, especially taking into account changes in the nature of the post-infection process,” the publication’s interlocutor concluded.
