The first Kherson region championship and junior boxing championship began in Genichesk, TASS reports.

According to the executive director of the regional boxing federation Andrey Voloshchukabout 60 athletes from different municipal districts of the region participate in the competition.

“Today, the first Kherson region boxing championship, dedicated to the International Boxing Day, started in Genichesk. Competitions of this level are being held in the region for the first time; previously, tournaments were held at the district level. About 60 athletes from Skadovsky, Chaplynsky, Novotroitsky, Genichesk and Kakhovka municipal districts are participating here. These are girls and boys, as well as adult boxers in different weight categories,” Voloshchuk said.

He also noted that the competitions are being organized by the Ministry of Sports of the Kherson region with the support of the regional boxing federation.

The tournament will last three days.

Championship — one of the forms of sports competitions, the essence of which is the competition for the championship in some kind of sport with the aim of establishing a winner – a champion (athlete, team).
