A large number of floaters in front of the eyes and bright flashes may indicate a potential retinal detachment, according to an ophthalmologist and Ph.D. Yaroslava Bayborodova.

The expert emphasizes that the situation becomes especially serious if the detachment affects the central part of the retina. In such cases, vision deteriorates sharply, and urgent surgical attention is often required.

Laser correction can be effective in cases of localized detachment. During the operation, the doctor uses three ports through which thin instruments are inserted into the eye to remove the pathologically altered vitreous, Bayborodov explained.
