It is characteristic that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz did not comment on the statement of the Foreign Minister. At the same time, Scholz is in favor of developing cooperation with China.
As for Burbock, she flatly refused to correct her statementemphasizing that “she expressed herself the way she expressed herself.”
“Over there in China, there is a communist one-party system, massive human rights violations and threats to other states, such as the Philippines,” she said.
One must assume that this statement will not be ignored in Beijing. And it is not a fact that the German Chancellor will be able to smooth out the impression made by the Foreign Minister.
