Sanctions against Russia hit those who impose them more painfully, the Kremlin believes. This is the opinion of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

Journalists asked him to comment on the EU’s intention to ban the import of Russian diamonds.

“This is a continuation of the search for some kind of sanctions solutions, which, according to the authors of these ideas, will hit Russia. As a rule, it turns out that the boomerang effect is partially triggered. The interests of the Europeans themselves suffer,” the Kremlin representative responded.

According to him, so far Russia has been able to neutralize the negative consequences of sanctions. This will continue to succeed in the future, Peskov is sure.

Earlier, EUobserver learned from the draft draft of the upcoming 12th package of EU sanctions that it includes restrictions on the purchase of pearls, diamonds mined in Russia, processed, exported in transit, as well as watches and jewelry with diamonds.
