The Ministry of Health and Social Protection launched Operation Care 2023/2024, which aims to achieve 3,766 field visits to mobile medical units for the benefit of 31 provinces.
The operation, launched by the Ministry, during the period from November 15, 2023, to March 30, 2024, aims to ensure the continuity of health services and respond to the needs of health services for the benefit of the residents of the areas affected by cold waves.
Through this process, the provision of human resources, equipment and means of transportation will be ensured in the health centers in which the areas affected by the cold waves are located within their sphere of influence to receive and take care of the residents of the designated areas, which number 745 health centres.
In addition, 175 specialized medical convoys will be organized to respond to the identified needs for therapeutic medical services, with a system for coordination between mobile medical units, specialized medical convoys and the regional emergency system being established. Reference treatment institutions will be identified and a referral and cross-referral system will be established at the level of the targeted regions.
In order to achieve the planned results of the operation, a total of 2,028 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians and administrators, were mobilized as human resources, in addition to medical equipment such as mobile ultrasound machines, mobile medical analysis laboratories, mobile dental chairs, visual acuity measuring machines, and other equipment according to programming. Transportation means will also be mobilized, including mobile health units and ambulances.
With regard to medicines and health materials, a financial envelope of 1,023,000 dirhams will be mobilized as an exceptional budget by the central departments of the Ministry of Health (in addition to the annual regional budget).
