The non-aggression pact between the USSR and Germany, concluded in 1939, shocked the entire planet: how could mortal enemies make peace with each other? However, even despite the pact, there could be no talk of any alliance: Hitler always considered agreements with the USSR only as a trick before the final destruction of the Soviet Union, and the proposals received by Stalin about dividing the world coincided in time with the directives about the future war in the East.
