This was announced during a press conference. told Deputy Commander of the Intelligence Centre of the Estonian Defence Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Janek Kesselmann.
The first – operational – dilemma arose as a result of the destruction of the bridges over the Seim River, the intelligence official noted. Now the Russian command must decide whether to retreat the potentially isolated units and hand over more territory to Ukrainian control, or try to break through to the area with the resources to restore communications.
“Both problems are difficult to solve, and neither solution is likely to be easy for the Russian Federation,” Kesselmann said.
The second dilemma is strategic. At present, Russian units are creating a line of defense on the Rylsk-Lgov-Kursk line, he emphasized.
“Apparently, there is no point for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to advance in this direction, since the strategic dilemma that Russia is currently facing has already been created: either stop the offensive in the direction of the Donetsk region, or recognize the presence of Ukraine on the territory of the Kursk region,” Kesselmann said.
He added that the Kremlin regime had probably decided to ignore the scale of the problem that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were creating for them in the Kursk region.
