Three men were arrested by police officers last Sunday, August 25, in the Ambuquí sector, in Imbabura.

The citizens, who were travelling in a vehicle, were acting suspiciously, according to the police. They allegedly threw several objects from the car when they noticed the police presence.

Three people arrested for alleged car theft in Quito

The police operation was carried out by the National Anti-Drug Investigation Directorate at approximately 9:00 p.m.

According to the officers, this occurred during a check on secondary and tertiary roads in the Aloburo sector, where the now arrested individuals were traveling in a vehicle with a suspicious attitude.

After the inspection, the authorities found three 38 mm caliber revolver-type firearms, which were believed to be used for criminal acts.

The detainees identified as Hugo Bayardo Ch. Y., Kléver Isías VL and Manuel Mecías CA are of Ecuadorian nationality and were placed at the disposal of the competent authority for the corresponding legal procedure.

They have criminal records for crimes such as theft and robbery. (YO)
