What is known about mass drug poisoning in Astrakhan | November 20, 2023

The press service of the Ministry of Health of the Astrakhan Region said that from November 17 to 21, 19 people were admitted to City Clinical Hospital No. 3 named after S. M. Kirov with signs of poisoning by narcotic and psychotropic drugs. Currently, 17 patients are being treated: 6 of them are in serious condition, 11 are in moderate condition. Two were discharged.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Astrakhan region received information from a medical institution that 20 residents of Astrakhan were admitted to intensive care with signs of toxic poisoning by an unidentified substance. It was previously revealed that the victims had used synthetic drugs the day before.

Employees Ministry of Internal Affairs three suspects (citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan) were detained in the sale of drugs that poisoned those admitted to the hospital.

A criminal case was initiated under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The necessary examinations have been ordered, including genetic examinations. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
