In Russia they called for freeing large families from paying for housing and communal services | December 15, 2023

In Russia, it is necessary to exempt large families from paying for housing and communal services, says Tatarstan Children’s Ombudsman Irina Volynets. She called for establishing a social standard per square meter for each resident, and obliging families to pay for housing and communal services only if it is exceeded. The social activist sent a corresponding proposal to the deputy chairman of the committee State Duma on issues of family, women and children to Tatyana Butskaya, RT reports with reference to a copy of the appeal.

Compensation for housing and utility costs is one of the main types of benefits for large families, Volynets noted. However, the size of these benefits, as well as the conditions for their provision, vary. Therefore, in the opinion of the Ombudsman, a provision should be established at the federal level that would spell out the conditions for exempting large families from paying for housing and communal services. Such families, according to Volynets’ proposal, will pay only for that part of utilities that goes beyond the standards.

She called on Butska to support her initiative “in order to support the birth rate and improve the status of large families.”

This week the State Duma supported the initiative of social activists to issue “Pushkin Cards” to large families for the cultural development of children, and also called for launching the federal “Affordable Car” program for them.
