Parties requested additional support to conduct studies without carrying them out…and others spent research money without proof – Al-Youm 24

A report by the Supreme Council of Accounts related to auditing the parties’ finances said that some parties that requested additional annual support to cover expenses for conducting tasks, studies, and research returned all the money after the end of the year to the treasury due to their failure to carry out any of those tasks.

Additional annual support to cover expenses incurred for tasks, studies and research was granted to seven political parties based on their requests (20.10 million dirhams). However, following the warnings included in his remarks, addressed to the national officials of the political parties concerned, four out of seven parties returned 3.35 million dirhams of unused support amounts to the treasury, equivalent to 17 percent of the total additional annual support for the year 2022.

The Council explained that the returned amounts were distributed between two parties that returned a portion of the total amounts of additional support granted to them (597,122.68 dirhams) and two other parties that returned the total amount of support granted to them (2.75 million dirhams) because they were unable to spend it before the end of 2022.

The Council noted shortcomings in the level of support for expenditures authorized to be disbursed by five parties with legal proof documents, amounting to 15.64 million dirhams, or approximately 12 percent of the total expenditures (130.65 million dirhams).

It should be noted that if the amounts committed under the contracts and agreements concluded within the framework of the additional annual support for the year 2022 are not disbursed, they will be added to the unused amounts that must be returned, according to the report.
