Possible abolition of compulsory motor liability insurance will not affect road safety – expert Lysakov

On November 7, the State Duma adopted in the first reading billwho are asked to exclude the MTPL policy from the list of documents required for vehicle registration. Leader of the social movement “Freedom of Choice” Vyacheslav Lysakov commented on the innovations in a conversation with Pravda.Ru.

He emphasized that the MTPL policy is, on the one hand, compulsory insurance, on the other hand, it must be acceptable for car owners. The expert believes that if drivers are now not required to show and buy a policy when registering, then this is a plus for drivers. Car owners have the opportunity to choose the most suitable company.

Lysakov believes that the innovation will not affect road safety. The expert noted that order on the road depends on the general culture and the inevitability of punishment. The bill will not affect road safety, since it is in the sphere of control and suppression of gross violations.

“This introduction will in no way affect safety, nor will it worsen the situation for car owners with car ownership. Thank God, you don’t need to bring an insurance policy, which means you can register the car, and then deal with insurance. I don’t see any implementation changes here that could would introduce some kind of imbalance or worsen road safety,” Lysakov concluded.
