The world’s richest people have returned their lost money | December 31, 2023

Bloomberg writes about this, citing its own ranking of the 500 richest people on the planet.

In total, the capital of the 500 wealthiest billionaires on the planet increased by $1.5 trillion. Thus, they managed not only to compensate for last year’s losses, but also to earn an additional $100 billion.

According to Bloomberg, the greatest contribution to the recovery of fortunes was made by the owners of technology companies. Their capital increased by $658 billion, or 48%. Experts attribute this growth to the hype around artificial intelligence technologies.

The top three richest people in the world, according to the Bloomberg index, include Tesla founder Elon Musk, LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault and founder Amazon Jeff Bezos.

Despite a gain of $95 billion, Musk has not been able to fully compensate for his 2022 losses of $138 billion. According to Bloomberg, his fortune is estimated at $229 billion. Arnault, whose fortune is estimated at $179 billion, has periodically outpaced Musk, but the decline in demand for luxury goods has caused hinders.

Bezos takes third place with $177 billion. He earned $70 billion this year and is close to second place in the ranking.

Experts note that 2022, due to inflation, high rates and geopolitical risks, has led to a dramatic decline in the wealth of billionaires. However, this year they managed to reverse this. The exception was the mistakes of individual tycoons, such as Musk’s deal to buy Twitter.

Before this, the L’Oréal heiress became the first woman with a fortune of $100 billion.
