“We are deeply saddened that Sven-Göran Eriksson, who led the Three Lions from 2001 to 2006, has passed away at the age of 76. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Sven. You will be greatly missed,” the national team’s press service wrote on social media.

Sven-Goran Eriksson has mostly coached national teams. These were England, Mexico, Ivory Coast and the Philippines. He has also coached clubs: Roma, Benfica, Fiorentina.

Sven-Göran Eriksson (Swedish: Sven-Göran Eriksson; 5 February 1948 – 26 August 2024) was a Swedish football coach, best known for his work with Swedish side Gothenburg, Portuguese side Benfica, a number of Italian clubs, and the England national team (2001–2006). He was the first foreign coach to coach the England national team.
