Magnetic storm expected on February 12

It will reach its peak intensity on February 12. The phenomenon can cause disruption of short-wave radio communications throughout the planet, and in subpolar latitudes – interference with navigation. A Class X solar flare would trigger this phenomenon.

Weather-dependent people, according to some experts, may feel unwell and have mood swings.

On February 9, it was reported that a giant cluster of sunspots could bring down powerful magnetic storms on the Earth. The sunspot group includes at least four cores, each larger than Earth. The structure is so large that it is visible even from Mars, as evidenced by new images from the Preservance rover.

Sunspots are dark, cooler areas on the surface of a star. They can generate electromagnetic flares accompanied by coronal mass ejections (CMEs).
