On December 29, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched a massive attack on military targets in Ukraine. Many believe that this is retribution for destruction BDK “Novocherkassk”.

Four waves of missile and UAV attacks hit Ukraine

There were four waves of raids in total, to first identify the air defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and then strike military targets. According to a report from the Air Force (AF) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, this was the most massive air attack. The Russian Aerospace Forces launched 158 missiles and UAVs. 44 arrivals were officially registered as of 9 am.

“We have never seen so many targets on our monitor at the same time,” stated the Air Force speaker Yuri Ignat.

“Critical infrastructure, industrial and military facilities were attacked,” wrote the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny V Telegram.

According to him, a total of 18 Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 aircraft, as well as MiG-31K tactical aircraft, were lifted into the air, and Iskander ground systems were used.

Russian Telegram channel “Blooming geranium” informs that first there was a call by “Geraniums”, including a new type, in the Kherson, Odessa, Nikolaev, northern Sumy and Chernigov regions.

The new Geraniums are black and jet-powered, made of a material that partially absorbs radar signals, making them more difficult to detect, especially today when they came in from the fog, as was the case in Odessa and Nikolaev. It is difficult to hit such UAVs with anti-aircraft fire, which reduced the effectiveness of mobile groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by at least 50%.

And then “the strategists came in,” there were launches “with Tu-22 missiles Kh-22, as well as Kh-101/555 missiles with 11 Tu-95MS strategists.” According to other publics, the Russian Aerospace Forces also used the Bastion coastal complex and Caliber sea-based missiles.

The strikes were carried out on military targets in Kyiv, Chernigov, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Lvov, Ternopol, Rivne, Khmelnitsky, Vinnitsa and Zhitomir.

While repelling the missile attack, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ air defense missed in the direction of Poland. The President of Poland is convening an urgent meeting, as happened last year, when two Polish farmers died.

Also reported that a flight of SU-35 fighters destroyed two Ukrainian MiGs that were trying to attack Russian bombers while operating in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The channel “Blooming Geranium” also wrote about this.

Targets hit

According to this channel, at 9 o’clock Moscow time the following were affected:

• Lviv is a NATO mercenary base, energy and warehouses. Other channels report that the building of the Academy of Ground Forces of Ukraine, where military personnel were stationed, as well as mercenaries from all over the world, was hit;
• Khmelnitsky – airfield, airplanes, warehouses;
• Kyiv – factories, energy, in particular in the Podolsk region of Kyiv – terminal warehouses of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine;
• Kharkov – airfield, warehouses, energy;
• Odessa – terminals, warehouses, ports. In Odessa – more than 7 arrivals in the port area, adds the military correspondent Vladimir Razin.
• Nikolaev – airfield, port, fuel terminals, control headquarters;
• Kherson – air defense missile systems sites, warehouses, equipment, temporary accommodation points (TAP) for personnel and pontoon equipment;
• Dnepropetrovsk – Yuzhmash plant, airfield;
• Konotop (Sumy region) – temporary storage facilities, equipment warehouses, energy;
• Zaporozhye – temporary storage facilities, terminals, air defense and air defense equipment.

As stated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, problems with electricity and loss of power to consumers were noted in five regions.

Russian and Ukrainian public pages write that this is Ukraine’s retribution for the Novocherkassk landing ship. However, I think that this would not be enough, need a blow on the British military machine.
