105 new infections and two additional deaths – Day 24

Today, Friday, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced that 105 new cases of “Covid-19” and two deaths had been recorded during the past week.

The Ministry stated, in the weekly bulletin of the “Covid-19” outcome for the period between December 23 and 29, 2023, that the number of people who received the first dose of the vaccine reached 24 million and 924 thousand and 440 people, while the number of those vaccinated with the second dose reached 23 million and 426 thousand and 374 people. While 6 million 887 thousand and 645 people received the third dose of the anti-virus vaccine, compared to 61 thousand and 305 people who received the fourth dose.

She added that the new tally of infections with the virus raised the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 1,278,269 cases since the first case was announced on March 2, 2020, noting that the weekly “positivity” rate reached 4.1 percent.

New cases of infection were recorded in the regions: Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (40 cases) and one death, Casablanca-Settat (20 cases), Souss-Massa (14), Marrakesh-Safi (11), Fez-Meknes (10), and Draa-Tafilalet. (4) and one death, Beni Mellal-Khenifra (3), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (1), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1), and the eastern direction (1).

On the other hand, the cumulative number of deaths reached 16,300 (with a general lethality index of 1.3 percent), while the total number of active cases reached 118.
