A 17th-century cat-shaped baking dish was found during subway construction in Austria.

VIENNA, December 28. /TASS/. In Vienna, during the construction of the metro, an object was discovered that turned out to be a baking dish in the shape of a cat, which could be at least 400 years old. This was reported by the Kurier newspaper.

During the expansion of one of the metro lines of the capital, a basement was discovered, the contents of which began to be studied by archaeologists. Among the finds was a clay baking dish with a heavily worn design. Later, a specialist was able to establish what kind of pattern was imprinted thanks to the shape: a lying cat with its tail pressed to its hind paw.

The item dates back to the 17th century; its purpose is not precisely established, but it was presumably used for baking.
