“Some items are expressly prohibited for carriage by airlines, or in relation to them the carrier declares that they are not responsible for their damage, unless the carriage of baggage with a declared value is specifically registered. Some items will not be covered by insurance, for example, cash or works of art, It’s better not to carry such things in luggage,” the expert warned.
A broken suitcase is fully covered by insurance, he added.
When flying around Russia, the easiest way to insure your suitcases is by purchasing “flight insurance,” which almost all airlines and travel agencies have, Migachev added. The payment under it is a maximum of 50 thousand rubles for damage or loss of luggage and 10-15 thousand rubles for a delay in issuing suitcases upon arrival.
In addition, baggage insurance is usually included in a combined policy, the expert noted.
