Fraudsters are spoofing banking applications, threatening customer safety

According to information published in Izvestia, fraudsters have become more active in faking banking applications in order to deceive clients and gain access to their funds.

Criminals use cunning calling clients on behalf of a financial institution employee and claiming that this is just a normal application update. However, in reality, these fake applications are hiding remote access programs. These programs allow attackers to connect to customers’ devices and easily steal their money or personal information.

It was also previously reported that Fraudsters began to steal personal data of hospital patients. Scammers use this information not only to steal money from bank accounts, but also for blackmail, threatening to disclose confidential information about the health status of victims.
