Patriarch Kirill told how his father was sent into exile during the years of Soviet power.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church shared a sad family story. He explained that his father Mikhail Gundyaev became a victim of state repression during the years of Soviet power.

He said that Gundyaev Sr.’s room was searched. The evidence against the theological course student was the notes, where the word God was written with a capital letter.

“Look, “God” is written with a capital letter!” To which the second said: “There is no need to look for anything else, this is enough,” the patriarch said.

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ explained that my father was sent to Kolyma for five years.

Earlier, Patriarch Kirill stated that belonging to the Russian people should be determined by the Orthodox religion.
