TV presenter and candidate of biological sciences Ivan Zatevakhin said that pets, just like people, feel the holiday atmosphere, which means they can react to all the pre-New Year bustle.

“They feel to the extent that the owner feels it. Dogs are empathic – phenomenally, I would say, empathic, even more empathic than people towards us. Therefore, of course, they read our emotions, they are happy and for them it is the same holiday,” he points out.

At the same time, the situation with cats is more complicated, since they also sense a person, but their reactions are different. According to Zatevakhin, they will not have such wild fun as dogs. Nevertheless, the very feeling of celebration will be remembered, as the animals will react to all the New Year’s bustle that arises on the eve of the holiday. This way they can remember that there will be a celebration to follow.

At the same time, the expert warned pet owners that on New Year’s Eve they should be very careful when handling firecrackers and fireworks, because they can cause a panic attack in the animal. In addition, excessive emotional stress, like involving your dog in unbridled fun, may not end well.
