According to a new study conducted by a planning service travel Onetwotrip, the capital of Tatarstan, took fifth place among the most popular cities in Russia for single travelers during the New Year holidays. RIA Novosti reports this.

The leading position is occupied by Moscow, which accounted for 30.9% of orders for the New Year holidays. St. Petersburg took second place with 15.8% of bookings, and Sochi took third place with 10.5% of bookings.

Kaliningrad is in fourth place, Nizhny Novgorod is in sixth. The top 10 popular destinations within Russia for the New Year also included Yekaterinburg, Murmansk, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk.

According to the service, Russians most often book rooms for a period of four to seven days, planning to spend the New Year holidays alone within the country.

Among foreign destinations popular with solo travelers are Phuket in Thailand (5.9% of hotel bookings), Paris (4.8%) and Istanbul (4%). The top 10 also included Rome, Milan, Budapest, Yerevan, Rimini, Dubai and Barcelona.
