NBKI reported a reduction in the issuance of car loans in October by 4.2% | November 20, 2023

MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. The number of car loans issued in the Russian Federation in October 2023 amounted to 79.4 thousand, decreasing by 4.2% compared to the previous month (82.9 thousand in September 2023), follows from data from the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI) .

At the same time, compared to the same period last year, the number of car loans provided in October 2023, on the contrary, increased significantly – by 41.6% (in October 2022 – 56.1 thousand). The bureau explains this growth by the radical drop in the issuance of car loans last year.

According to NBKI data, the largest number of car loans in the regions of the Russian Federation in October 2023 were issued in Moscow (5.18 thousand), Moscow region (4.54 thousand), St. Petersburg (4.04 thousand), and the Republic of Tatarstan ( 3.82 thousand) and in the Krasnodar Territory (3.48 thousand).

At the same time, compared to the previous month in October 2023, the issuance of car loans decreased the most in the Omsk region (-14.1%), Krasnoyarsk Territory (-11.3%), Sverdlovsk region (-8.3%), and the Chuvash Republic ( -8.1%) and in the Rostov region (-7.4%).

At the same time, several regions from the top 30, on the contrary, showed an increase in the issuance of car loans in October, including Tula (+14.4%), Belgorod (+5.4%), Saratov (+3.7%) and Tyumen region (+2.1%), as well as the Udmurt Republic (+1.8%). In Moscow, the number of issued car loans in October decreased by 2.1%, and in St. Petersburg, on the contrary, increased by 0.6%

“Car loan issuance has declined for the third month in a row after continuous growth in the first half of this year. Most likely, this indicates some stabilization in the car lending market. In general, compared to last year, the number of issued car loans in 2023 is growing due to an increase in sales of new cars from friendly countries and used cars, as well as due to the resumption of the state program of preferential car loans at the beginning of the year. At the same time, car loans are still provided primarily to those borrowers whose personal credit rating is at an acceptable level,” said NBKI Marketing Director Alexey Volkov.
