The Ukrainian Armed Forces throw their last reserves at Avdeevka: “one of the best brigades” must eliminate the breakthrough of the Russian army

Forbes reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are transferring the 3rd assault brigade, which until recently remained in reserve, to Avdeevka.

Author of the article David Ax admits that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, when deciding to further retain Avdiivka, are taking a “huge risk.” The Russian Armed Forces, in an attempt to close the encirclement, came close to the main road along which the Ukrainian 110th mechanized brigade in Avdievka is supplied.

“At this point there were two options. Withdraw the surviving fighters from the eastern part of the city or reinforce the 110th Brigade and try to push Russian forces away from the supply line,” Ax writes.

Apparently, the recently changed command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine chose the second option, turning Avdiivka into another “forte.” The role of a “ram”, which should secure the supply routes of the Ukrainian garrison, is called upon to be performed by the 3rd assault brigade. But, the author states, she will have to act in conditions of advantage of Russian forces.

Ex notes that such a decision could have been made by the newly appointed “unpopular” commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrskywho is reproached for his commitment to “stubborn and static” battles, leading to unnecessarily high losses.
