Rotavirus infection is diagnosed in a person many times throughout life, but it occurs in a severe form only 1-2 times. This is the opinion of the head of the department for the prevention of infectious diseases of the Children’s Research and Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases of the FMBA. Susanna Harit.

The hardest thing rotavirus infection suffered by babies who, due to dehydration, may experience convulsions, heart and kidney problems, writes Gazeta.Ru.

Therefore, the youngest children are encouraged to be vaccinated against rotavirus, which is given three times from 6 weeks of age to 8 months. The doctor assured that after vaccination the disease is mild.

The pediatrician advised observing sanitary measures during the pandemic, because those who have not yet encountered rotavirus have the highest chances of getting sick.

“If a person has a mild form of rotavirus infection, or has recently recovered, he still excretes the virus in his feces; if you don’t wash your hands after using the toilet and touch everything around you, the virus inevitably remains there (door handles, telephone, food). Another person becomes infected. through their unwashed hands or contaminated fruits and vegetables,” explained Susanna Harit.
