“Reserve regiments are never directly involved in an offensive. Rather, these are transshipment points where reinforcements arrive, undergo additional training, then platoons and companies are formed, which are transferred to active units. Or fighters undergo individual training and are then distributed among combat units,” – said a military expert Alexey Sukonkin.

According to him, the experience of the Great Patriotic War, where reserve units were created as transshipment bases for volunteers and mobilized, can help the Russian Federation here.

However, in the West there is an alarming discussion that these are not reserve formations at all, but newly created units ready to go on the offensive. Perhaps the Russian Ministry of Defense used some kind of strategic information camouflage, since it is impossible to hide the presence of these units, the analyst noted
