Leonid Babashov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Development of Transport Infrastructure, shared with Gazeta.Ru that before the arrival of winter, he carries out maintenance on his car. He changes the engine oil and carefully checks the brake system. According to Babashov, it takes some time for the driver to adapt to winter conditions.

“I’ve been on the road for almost 40 years and consider myself a dedicated car enthusiast. It is important to understand that any type of vehicle, be it a truck or a car, poses an increased level of danger. Therefore, proper maintenance and preparedness for changing weather conditions are extremely important aspects . Living in Crimea, where winters are relatively warm, I change tires to winter ones in November-December. Also, before the arrival of winter, I always change the engine oil and carry out diagnostics of the suspension and braking system. The main thing in winter conditions is not only the technical readiness of the car, although this is important. It is important to understand that even at +3°C the roads may become icy, which can cause slippery conditions. Therefore, driving in such conditions requires great care and attention. It is important to remember that every driver gradually adapts to changing weather conditions and it takes some time,” he said.
